Tie-Dye Cake

I made a tie-dye cake for the painting theme birthday we had few days back.  You can see more pictures from the Painting Birthday party here. I wanted a colorful cake to go with the theme. And I loved how this came out to be.

My kids helped me in mixing the colors in the batter and it was like a science project for them...:) They loved mixing the colors and also loved seeing the colors once it was cut.

You'll need:
---------------
- White Cake Mix and all the other ingredients as listed in the cake mix.
- Food colors of your choice.

Steps:
------
- Make the batter of the cake according to the instructions.
- Now divide the batter into equal parts of how many colors you want to use. I used 6 colors for this cake. So I divided the batter into 6 bowls.
- Drop a few drops of color in each bowl. The picture below shows only three bowls, but I had six of them, because I wanted all the colors of the rainbow. ( Just as a guide, if you just have basic colors, use few drops of red and yellow for orange,  yellow and blue makes green, red and blue makes purple)

- Now that you have all the colors mixed. Prepare the baking pan by spraying with oil or butter.

- I made two small round cakes with the batter. So I used half of each color of batter for a cake.

- Start by pouring the half of red color batter in the pan. Don't try to spread the batter, just pour the batter in the middle of the pan. Then pour the second color, which in my case is orange right on top of the first color and let it spread on its own.

-Keep pouring the other colored batter the same way on top of each other.

- When you have poured all the colors, bake the cake just as suggested in the box cake mix.

- This is how it turns out to be once baked.

-  I frosted the cake with whipped cream and homemade buttercream frosting.
