Homemade Playdough

Wanted to reshare this recipe of playdough, which I had shared quiet sometime back. This is fun and easy to make. And definitely a great way to keep kids busy and occupied in a safe and creative way.

When my kids were younger,  they would spend hours playing with playdough, specially my youngest one.  Now that she is little older, she still enjoys molding and creating. Though she does it with clay.

Playing with playdough encourages creativity and imagination. Possibilities are endless with playdough. You can create different shapes, animals, buildings or whatever that comes to mind. Its not only fun, but helps develop fine motor skills. Rolling, squeezing and shaping the dough helps to strengthen the muscles in the hands and fingers.

This homemade playdough in my opinion is so much better than store bought ones. Its nice and soft and you definitely feel good making your own batch..:) When you are done playing with it, just store them in ziplock bags or an air tight container.

So, let's get to making some playdough!

You'll need:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 Tbsp oil
4-5 drops of food color

Now for the fun part ..:)
- Dump all the ingredients in a pot. Mix it up.
- Put the pot on the stove over medium heat and keep stirring till it comes together and starts to form a ball, like the picture below.

- Once it starts to thicken and comes together to form a ball, take it off the heat.
- While it is still warm but cool enough to handle, knead it a few times till it is nice and soft.

That's it! Make different colors of your choice and store them in air tight containers.

Have fun making this playdough and continue the fun creating with the playdough.
I tell you its hours of fun. :)
