Paper cutting tools and techniques.

 I have been cutting paper for the past few months, but when I started I neither had the tools nor had much info about what to use and how to cut. 

Now that I have been papercutting for the past some time, thought about sharing about the tools I use. I have self-learned paper cutting, these opinions are mine. The things that I listed here are what worked for me. But would definitely be eager to learn more tips and techniques for anyone who has any ideas to share.

Paper cut Mandala

 

I have hand cut quiet a few paper designs but some designs are special and this is one of them. This was also the first mandala that I cut and hence the special place:).

I am hooked to paper cutting, atleast for now, till I find something more interesting to do ..😊 This requires the least amount of things, no glue, no other fancy stuff, just paper and cutting tool and I can grab these anytime and sit with these two things and cut away..

This was a good weekend.. we didn't go anywhere or do anything special, but I felt like I was able to do quiet a few things which I planned to do at home without being too tiring. At the end of the day, I wanted to make something quick and fun at the same time and ended up making this paper cut feather.

So this is what I worked over the weekend. It seemed like it took for ever though.😅 I was working on this in between my calls with friends, family. :)

Don't you agree, this staying at home during this pandemic has resulted in some good things, like catching up with old friends after a long time.

So this is what I worked over the weekend. I thought being at home would give me some extra time to spend more time crafting but it seems I am more busy doing I don’t know what. But yesterday I was determined to make something.

Its been a while since I made anything or even posted. Had been busy with stuff. This past weekend I was determined to make something and thought of making a cut design. So late in the evening, when the kids were off to bed, I set a movie to watch in Netflix and I did my watching and cutting at the same time ..:D. So it took me longer than usual to cut this piece. But oh well, I got it done..:)

Another paper cutting project.

I keep telling myself I have to get a good paper cutting blade to cut with, but well I have been unable to. But since I had this to make in my mind for a long time, I went with my older blade which is very difficult to cut with.

I wanted to try some finer paper cuts, but found out that my cutting tool wasn't too sharp and the edges weren't very clean, but I still liked this paper cut Butterfly.

I have been enjoying getting back to some paper cutting. This time of a bird.

The other day, I saw online a video of  a guy, a street artist, cutting a silhouette of a person's face just in a matter of a few minutes. Well, I am not that fast to cut anything, but was quiet impressed by his skills. For now, I am just working on my cutting skills and will then work on the speed part..:D

Believe it or not, this paper cut thing is very relaxing. It has been a while since I did my last paper cut, but enjoyed getting back to it and cutting these leaves.

Easy Paper Medallion

These paper medallions are great for decorating and can even be used to top gifts.  I have been making these paper medallions for a long time, accordion folding the paper and gluing the edges together, just like I mention in  the tutorial here.

I have not been able to do paper cutting for some time. But when I came across this beautiful paper cut Christmas tree, I had to make my own Paper cut tree too. Its just perfect for this season.
