Crepe Paper Flowers

This past weekend, I had fun making these crepe paper flowers with my little one. Infact she did most of the gluing. I just had to cut the papers into petals and she did the gluing part. I had lots of crepe  paper remaining from the crepe paper banner I had made for one of the birthday parties. I knew, I didn't want to store the banner, but didn't want to toss away all those crepe paper pieces which were in good condition. So thought of making flowers. It was a good project to keep my little one busy and she was so excited to make all these.

Mini Pallet Coaster

Few days back, I bought a bag of popsicle sticks for a project my son was working on. We had plenty remaining after his work was done. Then came the idea of making something with the sticks. These coasters were the first thing I made. So inexpensive and looks great...:)

Paper Chandelier

Its been quiet sometime since my last post. Phew, this summer is getting more busy than the school days. I guess its the same for many of us. We have been shuffling kids between camps, trying to keep them busy. Also we wanted to take few road trips and we just returned from one. What a refreshing break it was and I am already ready for another trip.

I had made these paper chandelier few days back, just because my daughter has been asking for one to put in her room. Well, she didn't say paper chandelier and I am pretty sure she meant a real one. But then when she saw this paper version, she was quiet delighted...:)

Honeycomb Balls

I have been wanting to make these honeycomb balls for quiet sometime. It seems that the procedure to make these will be difficult, but it is quiet easy.

I made it with sheets from an old magazine, but you can use any paper of your choice. You can make with one color or alternate with different colors.

Paper dress

I am loving this paper dress. Use it in cards or scrapbook. Or make a few and clip them to a string to make a garland for a shower or any party.

Below are the instructions with pictures. In the pictures below, don't be confused when the color of the paper changes...:)  I was making the first one and taking pictures along the way. But later on going through the pictures, I realized I missed taking pictures of some of the steps I wanted. So started to make another one, but then some of the pictures came out blurry. So I had to mix the pictures in the instructions..:(

Happy Valentines!!

This year for valentine class gift/card exchange, we gave tattoos. I found this adorable 'love' tattoo boxes at target and thought it was great for giving out to friends.

I printed these sayings which I thought was appropriate with tattoos...'I'm stuck on you', 'Stick with me Valentine' and 'I'll stick with you Valentine' on plain Word document. Cut the sayings out and tied it with a ribbon. It looked quite plain on a plain printer paper, maybe I should have printed on red paper. But this is what I had, so ended up just coloring the top and bottom with red pen. That's red enough I think..:)

Cardboard Dollhouse

I made this doll house few months back. I made it with one of the packaging boxes from Amazon. It was a nice recycling project, which was fun to make and turned out pretty nice. I tried furnishing the house and as you can see made a dresser and stove too. I did add other pieces too - made sofa and a bed. And then my little helpers took it over. They colored on the walls and also the furniture. But this is how it looked before the little interior designers took over.

Cork Sail Boats

I wanted to share one of the projects that my daughter did. She loves arts and crafts. You might want to check out some of her other art works at http://rheasart.blogspot.com/
These boats can actually float, so its fun racing them. Try blowing bubbles using the straw or come up with ways to make your boat move forward and race...:)

Crossbow using craft sticks.

During winter break it was fun doing crafts with kids. One of the things that we made was this crossbow using craft sticks. After we each made our own bow and arrow, it was fun playing with them. This amazingly goes pretty far.

You can make this and play the game of who throws the furthest. Or if you have a number of balloons you can blow them up, stick them on the wall and see who can burst the balloons, just like playing the throwing the darts game..:)

Paper Bows.

Few days back I came across this tutorial to make this paper bow and fell in love with it. Its fun and good to have to dress up your gift when you have nothing else to top your gift with. The tutorial is very well explained, so I didn't even bother to make another tutorial.

Twig/Rustic Christmas Tree

I often collect twigs during my walks outside, hoping I will use it in some of my projects. So, here I was with some twigs and wondering what I could make. Then a wonderful idea struck my mind to make some twigs Christmas trees. But I was not the only one who had this wonderful idea. After I made this tree, I searched online and it seems like the twig Christmas tree is in style and there are different versions of these trees that you can make.
