Homemade Bread/Rolls

Yay!!! I finally baked my own bread...:) :)

I have been thinking of making bread, but never got to it, till a couple of days back.

I followed the recipe printed on the back of the yeast packet I used for making the bread. The recipe said that the dough will double in size and boy, was I excited to see it to actually double in size. I kept the dough for a couple of hours to rise, but I must have checked a dozen times to see if the dough was actually rising.

As soon as the bread came out of the oven, I had to try one, even before I took the picture, so that's why you see one of the rolls missing from that pan...:)

Below is the recipe. The recipe calls for all-purpose flour, but I used 2 cups of all-purpose and 2 cups of whole wheat flour. Also, I read it somewhere that the milk should not be hot, just make sure that it is warm or otherwise it will kill the yeast and the dough will not rise.

You'll need:
------------
- 4 cups all-purpose flour.
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water.
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil.
- 2 packets (7g packet) of active dry yeast.

Steps:
------
- Mix together flour, sugar, salt, yeast and vegetable oil.
- Warm up the milk, butter and water mixture. Slowly pour it on the flour mixture and knead it into a dough. If the mixture is too sticky, you can add some flour. Knead it till the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Grease a large bowl with some oil and place the dough in the bowl.
- Cover and keep the mixture in a warm place to rise and double in size, at least an hour.
- For rolls, divide into small balls and place them in a greased pan side by side.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and bake for 20 - 25 minutes till the rolls are golden brown.
