DIY Christmas Tree

I was at Hobby Lobby few days back and saw similar-looking Christmas trees and thought why not make these instead of buying  And that's exactly what I did and that too at a fraction of the price it was being sold at 😉. It came together pretty easily too, that I made a bunch of them 😃

Host a GingerBread Decorating Party.

The holiday season brings with it a flurry of traditions, warmth, and delightful experiences, and one of the most cherished activities is undoubtedly gingerbread house decorating. There's something magical about assembling these sweet abodes, adorning them with colorful candies, and creating edible masterpieces with loved ones. If you're looking to add a dash of festive cheer to your gatherings, why not host a Gingerbread Decorating Party?

Elf on the Shelf Ideas

Till this year, I have done nothing with the Elf on the shelf.
Few years back, I bought one though, but every year apart from taking it out from the storage box and placing him in its usual spot above the fireplace, I did nothing much.

My daughter would sometimes ask, why our elf does not move. Though her friend's elf changed spots every morning. I would tell her maybe our elf is too tired or maybe even lazy to move 😃

Wreath/ Garland makeover

Ok, so I have had this garland for few years and it had worked well in the past since I guess I used to just wrap it around the stair railings and I didn't need a dense looking garland for that anyways. But with each passing year it seemed like the garland was loosing weight.
This year however, I wanted to hang the garland in a different way and it looked just blah.. it wasn't as dense I would have wanted it to be. So started adding Christmas ornaments and just see the difference, it already is looking more fuller.

Gingerbread House Decorating Playdate

We had a gingerbread decorating playdate this past weekend and the girls were so creative. Its always fun to decorate houses with friends. There was lot of chatting and giggling and also ofcourse eating lot of candies while decorating too. They were all high on sugar by the end. But I think they did get to burn little bit of it, since till the decorated house was getting dry, they played hide and seek and they did run quiet a bit.

Above was one of the decorated houses.

To make the decorating easier and less messier, I pre-assembled the houses using Graham crackers, so that the kids can get straight to decorating.

Paper Christmas tree

My kids go to to the Boys and Girls club after school. They love it there and sometimes they get to do some really cool craft work there. Sometime back, one of my kids brought home some really neat paper Pine trees that they made at bgc. I loved it. It not only looked great, but more so because how easy it was to make.

Christmas/Holiday Snack for Kids

I am sharing some cute winter related snacks I made for a playdate recently. Since this might have been the last playdate for the year, wanted to include soe fun snacks and also which was appropriate for a day at the park.

Apart from these snowmen, we had santa hats fruit kabobs, reindeer cookies and some really addictive Christmas tree chips from Trader Joes. I love Trader Joes and they have some really fun seasonal stuff. Christmas tree chips were these potato chips in the form of Christmas trees. I could have eaten a whole bag of that.

Paper Christmas/Pine Tree

When I was making these paper trees, I was picturing the beautiful snow covered pine trees.. We don't get snow where we live, but every winter we drive to the mountains which is just an hour away to play in the snow. Even though we don't have snow around where we live, I am trying to bring a little bit of white Christmas in our home, by decorating with these white paper Christmas trees..:)

Paper Christmas Tree

Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas. Well, the stores already have Christmas stuff out, so maybe not.

Last weekend, I was cleaning up the piles and piles of magazines that we have collected and thought it was time to get rid of old ones. But instead of just throwing or giving it away, I wanted to see if I can do or make somethings with it. So, one of the things that I made from it, was these folded Christmas tree.

It also reminded me of another paper Christmas tree that I made last year with old magazines and it happens to be one of my popular posts too..:) . Check it out here, to see how I made this one

Christmas Craneberry Orange Loaf

The other day I bought some fresh cranberry to use in a drink, but didn't get to use it all. I didn't know what to do with the remaining berries. I have always bought craneberry sauce or jam, but didn't know how to use the fresh ones. So googled recipes for using the fresh craneberry and found this one.

I made this bread on Christmas morning. The colors were just perfect to have this bread for breakfast for Christmas. Doesn't that look festive..

Paper Christmas Tree

Made these cute Christmas trees with old magazine papers.

I cut approx. 10-15 squares of different size of paper differing by half inch and stacked them from largest to smallest size.

So if you are starting with 5" squares, then you need 15 squares of 5" followed by 15 squares of 4.5" and then so on. Stack them on a skewer and you got a Christmas tree. How fast and easy is that !!..:)

Twig/Rustic Christmas Tree

I often collect twigs during my walks outside, hoping I will use it in some of my projects. So, here I was with some twigs and wondering what I could make. Then a wonderful idea struck my mind to make some twigs Christmas trees. But I was not the only one who had this wonderful idea. After I made this tree, I searched online and it seems like the twig Christmas tree is in style and there are different versions of these trees that you can make.

Pin the nose on the snowman game

Yesterday at school, the kids celebrated the last day of school before the winter break with some fun games, crafts and food. We had different stations set up for the kids to visit and do activities. I was responsible for one of the game stations, which was 'Pin the nose on the snowman' game. A couple of nights before, I made this snowman. How cute is that!

Paper Pine Tree/Christmas Tree

I have been out of blogging for some time. Just got busy with things, but was itching to get back and do something. So started today with a simple paper pine tree.
Its great as kids craft too and you can make these in no time, once you get to know how to fold the paper.
